It's the job that's frustrated.

The job that I want to looking but it's really frustrated. I contacted to DARS (New agency) Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services. No longer of named DRS. Now it's new name of DARS. It's announced today.

I went to Edible arrangement store for apply a job and they approved the applications. Then I applied and now they asked me two things, I would need to give DMV records, and resume. I thought the application form is a resume. As I am confused.

That's frustrated. They said will call. It's been since a week. Seem so that they are avoid me because of I am deaf?

What do you think?

That's hard.

In our mind, that there are about 75% deaf people thinks that RV (Department of Rehabilitation/Job agency) are still nothing but play around.

You know, I know that all State are "selfish" and gave the employers to be play out and use the money from taxpayers-- are they?

For example:

DARS from Miss Jane Doe has to work for 16 locations. Seem so all more 100 deaf people who are the clients, that is why State don't want to hire ANOTHER deaf or hearing who know ASL agent to have deaf clients to processed.
16 locations are too many for one agent?
Too far CRAZY.

That's waste our time and wait for another to turn to. That's irritated.

My DARS asked me to wait and let me know WHEN appointment will be email me. HOW LONG? I can't wait that longer.
I called on VP with message, no answer. And, I emailed last week, no answer back. That's frustrated.

  1. This place, Edible Arrangements, wanted to see your driving record and resume to see if you're a good driver and have some working experience. If I were you, I would go to the DMV to get records and make a resume of my work history. Don't give up and if you keep asking them, they might give you a chance to interview for a job. And I understand how you feel about DARS. I went thru the same thing when they wouldn't help me with school or a job. So I closed my case and got a job on my own. Been doing fine since then. Hang on in there and I know you'll find a job eventually.

    1. Yes, Mandy. My husband was the same as you did. He gave up and close his case short time ago. So I turned to open my case on DARS again and enlisted me today. Seem so other deaf clients before me, to give up the cases? I wondered that.
I know that, but Edible Arrangements look awesome to me as easier for me to delivery to know anywhere in this metro of Richmond, it would no problem for me. But problem is, communicate system would be needed by phone calls? Maybe hearing people don't have time to texting me instead in favor by speak than hands? I figure it out why hearing are likly more speak by speak than hands during a job. That's problem.

  2. Hi Lily,

Thank you for shared with us about your experience. This is a little concern to me because If when I finished with my master degree for art therapy and looking for job. BUT I am still worrying about my future job. I cannot stand when deaf people say, "I can't find a job because of I am deaf". I hate those words. I think hearing people are ignore and does not know about deaf culture. Maybe that is why this is one reason thing. I think people expected that if you have any degree or good resume...like example you have any good skills. I want to honesty with you when I was in freshman year in my college and I thought I will get a job easily but I found out our emcomony is very bad and students was frustrated because our loans are big owe if they don't have a job. I am still thinking that I may not get a job unless I have a good experience. Right I will be a volunteer at deaf school next week and I am totally excited about that because it will be on my resume. People will looking at my experience. I have a lot of events, volunteer, clubs etc. I wanted to make sure if I have enough experience for volunteer because I can get a job very quick. I hope you have a lot of experience and put your resume. I don't think if State is play with the deaf (us) BUT out Government is very nice cause they give us SSA or SSI for save your life. You never know that we are lucky. Some hearing people who have illness or problem cannot get SSI. Thats sad! Don't worry You will be fine and waiting for hire you. Do not give up Lily! And keep think a positive! :)

    1. Hi, Jenna.
I know that how you felt so frustrated about the career that you are looking for. That's hard thing to do than in 1960s are very easier than today. Today it is not. Now you and I, or all of us are worrying what the future may change the politics matter and no longer for SSA and SSDI or SSI in 2016, or beyond. We better to start to worry our deaf lives here. And we know that we have major problem with new technology tools to work that we need to be hearing these machines, and robots more than deaf needs? Most of them are hearing that needs to hire requires by hearing, by those "hear" needs. You know the world have problem are: 32.3 million deaf people lives in this Earth!!
